Are you a certified Yoga teacher? Are you planning for International Yoga Teacher? But have no clues how to start or where to start. I am here to help you once again with my article so that you reach wherever you want to be. Below are the points which will be beneficial for you if you are planning to be an International Yoga Teacher. Let’s have a look at this.

Get Certified:

Explore different yoga training programs to find one that fits your goals, schedule and budget. Look for programs approved by prestigious yoga organizations like Yoga Alliance, which sets the standard for yoga teacher training worldwide. The most important thing to consider when choosing a yoga institute is to familiarize yourself with the curriculum and the experience of the teachers. Check the background how old the institute is. What is the training and experience of the instructors? Always consider the institution where your curriculum is designed to cover all aspects of yoga. Check out the institute's reviews. Also find people who have already left this institution and learn more from them. Once you have completed all the requirements for a yoga teacher training program, you can apply for certification. This may require the submission of documents, participation in a final assessment and the payment of any fees. After successfully completing the certification process, you will receive an official yoga teacher certificate. This certificate shows that you have met the standards set by the certifying body and are qualified to teach yoga.

Gain expertise in the specific style of yoga:

As you progress in education, you will begin to develop your teaching style and voice. Embrace your unique strengths and personalities as a teacher while staying true to the principles of yoga. A yogi has many different styles, approaches and different ways of achieving goals. Decide for yourself what style you want to learn and what style you want to teach others. There is no one good style, but there is one style of yoga that speaks to you and is the language you want everyone to hear.

There are many different types of yoga, such as

  • Ashtanga Yoga
  • Hatha Yoga
  • Vinyasa Yoga
  • Iyenger Yoga
  • Jina Yoga
  • Aerial Yoga
  • Acro Yoga

Practice Teaching:

One of the most critical parts of yoga teacher training is practice teaching. You will have the opportunity to lead yoga classes under experienced teachers, receive feedback and develop your teaching skills. In addition to the core curriculum, take advantage of any workshops, seminars, or special events offered in your teacher program. These additional opportunities can deepen your understanding of certain topics and expand your skills as a yoga teacher.

Gain Knowledge (from books and Institutions):

Research as much as you can so that you are up to date on the art which you possess. There is always a scope of learning even if you have certification. Read every day and try to absorb it and implement it in your life. Practice every day because “practice makes a man perfect” and learn from it.

Get teaching experience:

You have almost heard it everywhere “experience matters the most” or “Grey hair is the sign of wisdom” that is actually true in every aspect of life not only in yoga. Before heading into any field gain as much knowledge as you can and implement your knowledge into your experience for an extra advantage. To gain experience start with something small as in you can teach in some school in yoga studio, or there are enormous opportunities online. Explore those sites. Talk to people, join yoga retreat and learn from your teaching, this will help you know yourself better, you will know where you have to improve, what are your yoga style, and while communicating with people you will enhance your communication skills as well. Then plan for your travel with an extra knowledge, skills and confidence.

Learn the local language of a country where you are going to be a teacher:

Even though language is not mandatory in yoga but if you are going for another country, its always better that you do have a command on extra language or a native language. Because in some part of the world there are people who don’t understand Hindi, Sanskrit and English. So, prepare yourself and always add on language as an additional skill. It will help you with clients and they will also be grateful that you know their native language.

Learn marketing strategy:

One of the most critical parts of yoga teacher training is practice teaching. You will have the opportunity to lead yoga classes under experienced teachers, receive feedback and develop your teaching skills.

Build your brand:

It's a good idea to set up a website as soon as possible so you can see yourself online and learn more about yourself. Your professional image will increase when you get a job as a traveling yoga instructor. Your website doesn't have to be expensive or flashy, instead it should be informative and catchy. Add the feature which are required to make your website revisitable. You can work on the design, colour so that you attract the audience. Add relevant articles related to yoga, different books like patanjali yoga sutras, mention your achievements, and if you are on a large scale you can create your own brand product.

Connect with people:

The most important parameter which will strengthen you, your yoga teaching and yes, the money and travel. The more you connect with people, the more you explore and learn, and the more your explore and learn the more you are mastering your art. Sit with people. Let them know you. Let you know them and wherever you feel ask for reference and give reference. This is how you should grow and let others grow.

Ask them for the recommendations, feedback. Talk to them connect over social media and tell them about your journey of Yoga.

Learn how to tackle different individuals:

Every individual is different and hence we have to tackle them differently. There are some students who will understand your instruction at one go but there are other students whom you have to explain twice or thrice. So, do not make them feel they are dumb or very different, because yoga is not about the end destination instead a process-step where every individual has a different journey. So, we have to deal with the people at their pace. Do not try to compare the individual with each other.

Conclusion

There are a lot of things you have to do for becoming an International Yoga Teacher, but the above points were the mandatory checklist which will help you to become International Yoga teacher without hassle. One thing that should be noted here that we have to give ourselves time to reach till here. All the best. Never lose hope.
