Bhastrika Pranayama

Introduction:
Bhastrika Pranayama, also known as "bellow breath," involves actively filling and emptying the abdomen and lungs. Derived from the Sanskrit word "Bastrika," meaning "bellows," this pranayama provides energy and is often referred to as the “yogic breath of fire.” It balances kapha and vata doshas.

How to Do Bhastrika Pranayama

  1. Step 1: Sit in Vajrasana, Sukhasana, or Padmasana, whichever is comfortable.
  2. Step 2: Keep your spine erect while practicing pranayama.
  3. Step 3: Fold your arms near your shoulders and make a fist.
  4. Step 4: Inhale deeply, raise your hands up, and open your fists.
  5. Step 5: Exhale forcefully, bring your arms back to the original position, and close your fists.
  6. Step 6: Repeat this for at least 20 breaths, or reduce the number if needed.
  7. Step 7: Relax your hands by placing them on your thighs and breathe normally.
  8. Step 8: Continue the process for a few more breaths.
